Linear Response Protection™ is Newton-Rider’s patented helmet architecture — designed to manage both linear and rotational impact forces through its flexible multi-pad construction.
Newton-Rider N1neo: Materials, Design & Safety
The Newton-Rider N1neo introduces a different material logic for urban bicycle helmets. Instead of a conventional rigid EPS structure, N1neo uses nine individual impact-absorbing pads mounted on a flexible liner.
Each protective pad combines three elements:
- Firm yet flexible polycarbonate shell providing outer protection and structural support.
- NR MI Foam engineered to absorb impact energy.
- Non-Newtonian inserts incorporated into the energy-absorbing system.
Together with the flexible liner, these nine independently responsive pads form the basis of Linear Response Protection — an architecture designed to respond from initial impact across a broader spectrum of forces, incorporating both linear and rotational components.
The fundamental difference is not simply material softness, but how the entire helmet structure responds to impact energy.
Key Features
- Slim and flexible: An approximately 18–20 mm protective structure, with foldability for convenient everyday carrying.
- Linear Response Protection: Nine independent protective pads and a flexible liner designed to manage impact energy across different force levels and directions.
- Multi-impact design: Engineered for repeated impact events, with TÜV test samples showing no visible pad damage after multiple impacts.
- Independent impact testing: In reported passing tests conducted to EN 1078 protocols, peak linear acceleration values measured 24–52% below the standard's 250 g limit.
- European manufacturing strategy: Production is being developed with selected European partners.
N1neo is developed for everyday urban cycling, including conventional bicycles and e-bikes, combining a different approach to impact protection with comfort, adaptability, slim design and portability.
Key takeaway: Linear Response Protection™ is not limited to linear impacts. N1neo's nine independent pads and flexible liner are designed to respond to impact energy from initial contact across a broader spectrum of impact forces, incorporating both linear and rotational components — without relying on an additional slip liner.
